Dampling – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-14

Dampling ("the app") is published by SLASH DIGITAL LAB SAS, Carrera 8A # 97-07, Bogotá, Colombia ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described below. Contact: support@martialtech.fr.

1. The short version

2. Data processed on your device only

Data Purpose
Your plan (goals, limits, usual drink, prices, currency, motivations, pet name and look) Personalize the app
Journal: drinks and alcohol-free swaps (type, size, alcohol %, quantity, price, time, optional note), nicotine use (type, quantity, price, time), alcohol-/nicotine-free days, challenges Core features: pet, insights, challenges
Preferences: theme, language, reminder time, look & feel options (animations, speech bubbles, scenes, colors, vibrations) Settings
Breathing sessions (how many, how long) and the badges already celebrated "Breathe with your dumpling" and badges
Evening reminder Shown by your phone's notification system; no server involved

This data never leaves your phone unless you enable Backup & sync (section 3) or share a progress card yourself (the image is created on your phone and sent only where you choose). Uninstalling the app or using Settings → Erase journal on this phone deletes it.

Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a technical report to Sentry (section 5): app version, device model, operating system version, the error and where it happened in the code, and your random account ID if you use Backup & sync. It never contains your journal, notes or email address. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working (art. 6(1)(f)).

3. Backup & sync (optional)

If you turn on Backup & sync, we process:

Data Purpose Legal basis (GDPR)
Account: a random user ID; your email address (email code sign-in) or the identifier provided by Sign in with Apple (which may be a private relay email) Create and secure your account Contract (art. 6(1)(b))
The journal and plan listed in section 2 Back up and sync your journal across your devices Your explicit consent (art. 9(2)(a) and 6(1)(a)): information about drinking or smoking can be health data
Technical data: app version, platform, language, time of the last sync, IP address in server logs Security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting Legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f))

You give your consent on the Backup screen before anything is uploaded. You can withdraw it at any time: Settings → Backup & sync → Stop backup deletes your account and its backup from our servers and keeps the journal on your phone. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing before the withdrawal.

4. Purchases (Dampling Plus)

Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own privacy policies; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. (USA) to validate purchases and know whether Plus is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID (or your account ID if you use Backup & sync), the purchase receipts and your device type. Legal basis: contract (art. 6(1)(b)).

5. Processors and where data is stored

Provider What for Where
Neon Database, file storage and server functions for accounts and synced data European Union (Frankfurt, Germany)
Resend Sends the one-time sign-in codes by email United States
Apple Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and subscriptions United States
Google Google sign-in, Google Play purchases and subscriptions United States
RevenueCat Validates store receipts and unlocks premium features United States
Sentry Crash and error reports, without your content United States

Crash reports (Sentry) contain the app version, device model, operating system, the error and stack trace, and your random account ID if you use Backup & sync, never journal content.

Transfers outside the EU (RevenueCat, Resend, Sentry, possible support access by Neon) rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We have signed data processing agreements with our processors.

6. How long we keep data

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. In the app you can: export your journal (CSV, Dampling Plus), edit any entry, erase the journal on your phone, stop the backup, and delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete account). Without the app, see https://martialtech.fr/dampling/delete-account/ or write to support@martialtech.fr. You may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France: the CNIL, www.cnil.fr).

8. Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Backups are stored encrypted at rest. Access to the backup is limited to your signed-in account; each request is checked on the server against your verified account.

9. Children

Dampling is meant for adults of legal drinking age in their country. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Health notice

Dampling is a wellbeing companion. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Estimates (units, calories, money) are approximations.

11. Changes

We will update this policy when the app changes, and tell you in the app for material changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
